What a fantastic location for our 2015 Biennial Exhibition by EPQ (Eastwood Patchwork Quilters) members. There will be in excess of 100 quilts on display, coffee shop and Devonshire Teas, craft stall, 4 local quilting shops and more. Why not come along and join us on Friday May 1st to Sunday May 3rd from 10am until 4.30pm.
The proceeds of our charity raffle quilts will benefit Cord Blood Research (Inner Wheel Australia) and Christian Community Aid. Tickets are now on sale from any EPQ member and representatives of the charities. Enquiries can be made by the contact page on this website.
Preparations are well and truly moving ahead for Eastwood Patchwork Quilters 2015 Biennial Exhibition to be held at Brush Farm House, Eastwood from Friday May 1 to Sunday May 5 2015, 10am until 4.30pm daily. Entry is free but donations are encouraged.
This year we are supporting two charities, Cord Blood Research (more information) and Christian Community Aid (more information).
As of this week, Eastwood Patchwork Quilters has a new meeting place. You will now find us at the West Ryde Anglican Church Hall at our usual meeting times (which you can see in the Membership tab at the top of the page).

Scrolling through Instagram recently, I spotted a lot of chat about a great new publication from Express Magazines. the cover caused me some interest as I recognised the quilt as being made by an EPQ member.
Congratulations to Maureen Teager on being the front cover girl for this new magazine/book Inspired by Vintage Quilts. Maureen’s stunning quilt Tribute to Gilly’s Find is published in beautiful colour and with full instructions.

My mother in law visited from the UK 3 years ago and was here for the EPQ quilt show and attended a few meetings on Wednesdays with me. The girls from Wednesday were lovely enough to give Barbara some blocks as a present for her help at the show and as a farewell gift. She has now created two quilts from these blocks and sent me some photos. I thought everyone might enjoy seeing them. Chris C. 
We are very proud to be the recipients of a community grant from Australia Post through their Our Neighbourhood Community Grant programme.
Eastwood Patchwork Quilters supply little quilts to the Social Welfare Department of Sydney maternity hospitals. The quilts are offered to parents of babies who have died, to wrap their baby while they say goodbye. The group completes about 350 quilts per year which are distributed to three hospitals. The hospitals would like more and have suggested they could use twice that number, and other hospitals have requested our support.
Recently a hospital which supports Aboriginal Health in one area has requested the use of indigenous type fabrics be used in some quilts.
The financial grant will be used to purchase bulk supplies of suitable materials to expand the scope of this venture for the next twelve months. At present the group supplies some fabric which is supplemented with donations from members.
The committee anticipates preparing individual quilt kits with all materials included, ready to be distributed to members for construction of the little quilts. A small fabric label will be sewn to the reverse of the quilt noting it is a gift from Eastwood Patchwork Quilters.

Louise is a long term member of EPQ and attends the Tuesday meeting almost without fail. Her enthusiasm and expertise is demonstrated in the outstanding quilt that she produced.
