As of this week, Eastwood Patchwork Quilters has a new meeting place. You will now find us at the West Ryde Anglican Church Hall at our usual meeting times (which you can see in the Membership tab at the top of the page).

Congratulations Maureen

Scrolling through Instagram recently, I spotted a lot of chat about a great new publication from Express Magazines. the cover caused me some interest as I recognised the quilt as being made by an EPQ member.

Congratulations to Maureen Teager on being the front cover girl for this new magazine/book Inspired by Vintage Quilts. Maureen’s stunning quilt Tribute to Gilly’s Find is published in beautiful colour and with full instructions.

Clothing the People Exhibition – extended by popular demand

Another exhibition of interest to textile lovers is now on until November 16th at the Old Government house in Parramatta Park.

Clothing the People is an exhibition of Edwardian and Wartime Fashion. The following is information from the website

From fine lacy lawn tea gowns & elaborate beaded opulence to austere military & service garments, come and see an eclectic and beautiful display of fine Edwardian & War time Fashion, with a slice of Australian style.

This exhibition takes form as a collaboration between the National Trust Costume and Textiles Collection and the private collection of Glennis Murphy – Over the Top Vintage, along with items from other collections and collectors, including Australian Military Specialist Brad Manera, Cavalcade of History and Fashion, NSW Lancers Memorial Museum, The Kings School and family mementos from Old Government House Volunteers.

Some truly stunning Edwardian gowns recently unearthed from the National Trust’s Costume and Textile Collection at Old Government House will be complimented by the amazing private collection of Vintage Fashion Dealer Glennis Murphy, with her beautiful gowns and utilitarian fashion from the wartime period.

ATASDA Palm House Exhibition – opening tomorrow

Opening tomorrow for 2 weeks is ATASDA’s biennial textile art exhibition. Several memberrs of Eastwood patchwork Quilters are also members of ATASDA and will be exhibiting.

PHPoster- A4 email(1)It is held daily from 14 to 26th August at the Palm House in the Royal Botanic Gardens, enter from Mrs Macquarie’s Road near the Art Gallery and the Domain. Opening times are from 10am until 4pm.

The exhibition features the best of textile art that ATASDA has to show under the theme of FUTURE …PAST. There will be textile art and other textiles for sale.
